Disney IB-trainee Showreel

I got a lil stressd today so decided to tidy up my room a bit and came across the CD of my showreel of the inbetweening scenes I did as a trainee at DisneyToon studios. Keeping in mind the aims of my thesis and the fact that I rarely have any posts from my YouTube page here in my Blog, I decided to upload it

Sorry, I forgot to tell u earlier. . 22/10

Oops, sometimes I take out my memory card in my camera and leave it in my lap-top and then take pix with my camera, resulting in it storing on the built-in memory of my camera. The problem with this, I forget all about them, and do not upload them to Flickr. (And I thought having to transfer pix from both my camera and my mobile was enough hassle, I have to remembr this too)
Anywayz,for documentation's sake, These pix were takn on the 7/10, and just show me learning to uss RSS, and subcribing to bloglines. Also that day I took a pix and my annoying bedroom comp, that it still infected with viruses and becos of that, is running, really, really slow. I had to use it that day cos I thought I mite be working on my lap-top a lil too much and I thought I might b melting my parts.

Call me paranoid.

Oh!. .. . so THATS wat friends are for! 22/10

During uploading my photos from my camera to my usb, I accidientally deleted 2 semi-important images. .. .So I spent the next 2 hours trying to get them bak, becos wen I deleted them it deleted them completely and didnt just put it in the trash can.
I googled how I can complete such a task, but in the end help can from a friend, who sent me a program on retreiving deleted files.

Snap! Crackle! Pop!

And I dun want no substitute, I swear its dejavu 22/10

As I work around the mess that is my bedroom, I keep coming across notes I made during different developing stages of my thesis. Why I don't just chuck them out!? God only knows, Do I really think there are coming still come in handy?

My Honours' mentors asked my to write a one paragraph summary to introduce each topic in my thesis, so I tried, by writing it in orange so I can see where each topic started. It began off as just cutting'n'pasting key points in the readings I had, but by the end, instead of one paragraph, I created a one page intro for most topics.

I usually drifts through these days always thinking about this silly thesis, as if my life depended on it. And every now and then, I will get a brain storm. I'm usually in the can, or taking a shower, or falling asleep or driving my car when this happens. And I rush to my pen and pad, and scribble down this ideas b4 the stroke of genius leaves me. If its truly is valuable i transfer it into my 'notes' document, if it transpires as babel. . . .I leave it where it is ;-p

After all the many guises this blog has gone thru, and as I continued to research for my thesis, it only seemd fitting to self-title my blog.

Much props to Sanyo DVD! Playr Hatin' Big-W tho!!!! 21/10

Wen I went to Big-W to return the broke Dvd they wouldnt take it bak, i went home, asked my friends if this was rite and they told me that they should replace it 4 me, so I rang the store managr, and he said that I can take it bak, and the girl at the return desk was ignorant. So I did, I returned it...smugly. I cant beleive she had the nerve for making me continue to wait in the return line a 2nd time, and she didnt evn apologise for wastin my time. Thats 5 hours and waiting in line and driving back and forth that I could have been spent writing!!!
But the damage is over. I opted for a Sanyo dvd playr this time. it cost me $80, but I rationalized it thinking, for $50 I can by a crap 1, for $70 I can buy the good version of the crap 1, but for $80 I can get a decent one, and if this one brakes down, it wouldn't give me a headache to replace it.
When I got home, I unpacked it, and put in where it belonged. It felt right this time. The screensavr is this killer lookin' bambo jungle.

After just 1 day, I dvd, 3 hours, the dvd I got from Big-W broke. I was soooo pissed off! no dvd in the background while reading drove me crazy!!!!

Out with the old. .. .and in with the crap 20/10

Last night my $50 dvd player blew up....literally, there was smoke and bangs and sparks and everything!. It must have been becuase I was watching 'just my luck', LOL!. It was probably still under warranty but I couldnt find the box or the reciept, and I saw a $48 dollar dvd playr in the Big-W catalogue, so I decided to buy it.
I watch dvds non stop almost all the time when Im studyin. A trick I learned at Disney, to stop u from getting to bored and keeping u in good spirits. The key is to watch a movie u watchd a zillion times, and leave it playing in the background....I guess I must have did it too much ;-P

No rest for the Wicked 18/10

So it was straight back to work. I was cutting'n'pasting my thesis in a comp lab in the library when this girl in front of me was writing an essay about blogging. Although I try not to seem like a stalker (but I probably did) I asked her for the reference, and it just happened that a contributor to the book happened to be one of my old lectures....Hmmmm, I smell a conspiracy, I think the UWS syllabus has be grooming us to research the topics we end up writing about.
And who else did I run into at the library, my good friend Marshall McLuhan....Hmmmmm:-) brings back memories of Dr. Cunninghams 3rd yr. Design theory tutes.

After checking a printed version of my page, I signed the copy, and the past few days of work, had come to an end,
phew!...now, back to working on my thesis.

Since Im doing a very futuristic topic for my thesis, I wanted to created a natural looking design for my A1 poster for the gradshow. I had a colour scheme of pink and blue, and as I looked at the dusk sky wat did I see, the most beautiful combo of pink and blue!, so I wanted to create a poster, based on a pink cloud and a blue sky, and have it filled with faded text from my thesis.
But, I have soon abandoned that approach since I changed my colours to orange anf blue. Since I lost the fight for a passport size foto of myself for the catalogue, I am now planning an a1 cartoon image poster of myself at the gradshow...chose ur battles well

After reviewing my designs, I bean to dislike the whole pink and blue thing. It was too much like a Kimmy trying to be Chase, and not Chase BEING Chase. So at the last minute of the last minute, I changed the pink to orange.

This is more like me, and I need to thank Kimmy for the advice about CYMK, lowering K, makes the colour less dull (I kno, normal ppl should kno this, but, unless u havent notices, I ain't normal ppl :-)

Since my design outcome is a thesis I needed something more flash to represent my work. I asked Kimmy if the images in Flickr will do, but she said they are not flash enough.

So we decided to bring out an element from my thesis to represent it. So We chose tagging. and make a sort-of poster for it.

I came back and she hated it. She a better designer than I am, so I value her opinion.

She was right, so I decided to use the canary blue colour and make it the text colour and not thew background colour anymore.

We agreed it looked better. I changed the title to pink, kinda reminding my of the Flickr colour scheme.

After consulting my mentors for a thesis title, and their opinions on what I should submit for the catalogue, I went and ask Kimmy,a friend of mine about what I should submit for the catalogue. We decided on a frantic, folksonomy tags inspired look. We decided to go for a white, and canary-ish blue theme.

When to the city, met up with my uni friends that already graduated. When girl shopping so I waited for them outside the store...It was grey, and it made my think about the uncertainty of life after I finish this thesis.....Am I excited, am I worried,...I'm still not sure.
